SHEEN Sharing

A Project of the Scottish Employability Co-ordinators' Network

Preparation for SHEEN meeting

A key task for this week will be preparing the project update for the SHEEN meeting on 19Feb. We will be notifying people about this test site, our use of blogging and will include the introduction to Web 2.0 applications.

  2. Cherie and I finalised this prep today on a teleconference with Graeme Roberts, the project’s friend at HEA. ๐Ÿ™‚ All those who will be at the SHEEN meeting this week will get an update document sent in advance, and we’ve enlisted Fiona Boyle at QMU will feed back to us your questions and comments.

  3. Thanks Sarah for your session today. It has inspired me to give it a go, still a bit confused about some things but now have set up several tags on Delicious and trying to get my head round “feeds”.

Cherie – thanks for staying behind to talk to me and I hope you caught your train OK.

Just going tot try and “tweet” on “twitter” now.

Sarah – How do I upload an image onto this?

  4. Glad you enjoyed the session Pam. I’m also still getting my head around some of the applications but find they are fairly intuitive.

    Maybe see you on twitter?!

  5. Hi Pam, thanks for getting stuck in so enthusiastically!

By “upload an image onto this” I guess you mean you want to post an image here on the blog? There are lots of ways we could achieve this. Or do you mean a profile picture so it appears whenever you comment. Anyway, if it’s the former, a few ideas below:

    1. If you want the image to appear like my picture of a snowy day did, within a the blog post column, I just need to add you as a contributor to the blog. You could then then log in, start a new post and insert an image. You could even put text around it.

    2. If you do get a Twitter account, you can do what I did and use Twitpic, which can link with both Twitter and WordPress.

    3. We could start a Flickr feed: if you use Flickr or some other image site and like to store your pictures there, you could tag them “sheensharing” and we could start a new feed in one of the right-hand columns for picking up images there.

    4. You could probably upload an image to our Scribd group; it would then appear as a link under “Project Documents from Scribd” but you wouldn’t be able to see the image. I’ve switched off the “view documents in feed” option because that makes antire word documents apear in the column.

There are loads of other permutations we could try: let me know exactly what you’d like to do and I’ll investigate, and do a separate “howto” post just on that so everyone can have a go.
